In order to ease the situation for medical aspirants and attempt the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, the Gujarat education board may introduce a new change in the current examination pattern.
According to reports, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is thinking about introducing exam papers which will only consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Currently, it's 75 % subjective and 25 % objective.
If incorporated, the move is expected to affect almost 1.5 lakh students across the state. According to several parents, the change will help students appearing for NEET 2017.
The changes were recommended by parents, which were then submitted to Education Minister Bhupendra-sinh Chudasama. A final decision on it is expected next week.
Some sections of educationists have raised concerns over this. Many school boards, including CBSE, do not have 100 % MCQs. Subjective questions are a part of every examination. Despite this, many students make it to medical colleges via previous entrance examinations like AIEEE and AIPMT etc (these exams have now been scrapped because of NEET).
