The Central Board of Secondary Education announced the schedule for online counselling and allotment process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on Tuesday. Students can visit the official website www.aipmt. nic.in for details. CBSE had conducted NEET 1 on May 1 while NEET 2 was held on July 24 across the country. There are 3,330 seats for MBBS in six government and 14 self-financed medical colleges in the state.
Under NEET, 15 per cent seats are allotted in government colleges, while 25 per cent seats in self-financed colleges allotted through NEET are under management quota — this makes it 162 seats in government colleges and 556 seats in self-financed colleges. Registrations for counselling will take place between August 22 and 25 till 5 pm. Round 1 of seat allotment will begin on August 26 and the students can join college between August 29 and September 3.
Allotments for Round 2 will begin on September 11and students can join college from September 13 uptil 23. The all-India quota seats that are vacant after both rounds will go to state quota after 5 pm on September 20. College will begin session for first year students from September 13. Pranay Shah, member secretary of Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses (ACPMEC) said, "CBSE conducts the allotment of seats under all-India quota and it always takes place before allotment through Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET).
We are awaiting the final judgment on Economically Backward Classes (EBC) quota. Allotment for those who have cleared GUJCET will begin after that and the new academic session will commence accordingly." The results of both phases of NEET are likely to be announced on August 17.
