Authorities conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-2 (NEET-2) have enforced strict security at examination centres in Lucknow on Sunday to prevent candidates from cheating.
Candidates were allowed entry inside only after their admit cards were verified to ensure that no impersonation takes place. Candidates were allowed to take only their pens and admit cards with them inside the examination rooms. Mobile phones, wrist watches and caps had to be left outside. To help candidates keep track of time in the absence of watches, a bell would be rung every half an hour.
A few candidates who reached late, were denied entry. At the exam centre at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gomti Nagar, a candidate named Rishu, who reached the centre just as the gate had been closed, was not allowed entry. Along with her, there were two others who came late.
“We reached the exam centre at 8.30am. The candidates had to make a queue and show their admit cards to the security personnel at the main gate for entry,” said Dr PK Gupta who had gone to drop a relative at the examination centre at APS Academy at Rae Bareilly Road.
Almost all the parents decided that they would wait outside the examination centres until the test gets over after 1pm. “The students have gone inside without even money as no paper was allowed. Hence, I will have to take my daughter back home,” said a parent at Aliganj centre.
