In their attempt to keep a check on malpractices during JEE Advanced examination, IITs have introduced dress code and a list of prohibited items from this year.

Following in the footsteps of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT's) have also introduced dress code and a list of prohibited items, in a bid to curb malpractices during JEE Advanced examination, from this year.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced are scheduled to be held on May 22, 2016.
Prohibited items:
  • Full sleeve shirts and Kurtas
  • Brooches
  • Footwear with heels
  • Shoes
Earlier, the list had also prohibited aspirants to carry wristwatches of any kind to the examination centre, and it was stated that the invigilators would announce the time after every half hour.
However, after receiving protests from parents and aspirants regarding the prohibition, the IITs modified the list on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

According to the modified list, now the students 'will be allowed to bring simple analog watches as smart/programmable watches will NOT be allowed'.
Parents had in their defense argued that carrying watch in the examination centre was essential for time management as JEE Advanced was a competitive exam.
Important Instructions pertaining to JEE Advanced:
